Description: This document provides a technical overview of the Internet Browser, a new service available as part of
the BlackBerry Internet Connection Solution that enables BlackBerry service providers to offer instant
Internet browsing capabilities to their non-corporate (“prosumer”) BlackBerry Wireless HandHeld users.
The Internet Browser is designed to provide the following features:
• optimized Internet HTML browsing experience
• standard web content types, including HTML, xHTML Basic, Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), WML,
WML Script, and image formats (.png, .gif, and .jpeg)
• data conversion engine
• content streaming and acceleration
• automatic compilation of Java .jar files to the Research In Motion .cod file format
• centrally run service hosted by Research In Motion as part of the BlackBerry Infrastructure
• wireless access to multimedia content and other service provider-hosted services for subscribers of
the BlackBerry Internet Service
• compatibility with the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld software version 4.0
• simple set up and deployment for BlackBerry service providers
